About the position

The Donor Center Technician I is responsible for ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations while maintaining high production standards and a positive donor experience. This role involves monitoring donor conditions, maintaining cleanliness, and operating equipment for plasma collection and processing. The technician plays a crucial role in ensuring donor safety and product quality, while also performing record-keeping and troubleshooting tasks as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure total operation compliance with state and federal regulations (e.g., FDA, OSHA, CLIA, GMP).
  • Maintain high levels of customer service and positive donor experience.
  • Keep work area clean and professional.
  • Stock and maintain an orderly work area with sufficient supplies.
  • Maintain Donor Center equipment according to Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Monitor donor conditions to ensure comfort and safety.
  • Maintain donor confidentiality and accurate record-keeping.
  • Troubleshoot machine alarms/alerts and perform routine quality checks on equipment.
  • Clean blood or plasma spills and dispose of biohazardous waste properly.
  • Ensure donor eligibility and perform vitals evaluation.
  • Set up and prepare equipment for plasmapheresis procedures.
  • Disconnect donors after the plasmapheresis process is completed.
  • Operate automated plasmapheresis machines and respond to alarms and donor adverse events.
  • Collect and store plasma product and samples according to procedures.
  • Organize samples and products in storage freezers and prepare for shipments.
  • Monitor freezer and refrigerator temperatures and report issues.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • Three months' experience in clerical or customer service position preferred.
  • Specific certification or licensing based on State requirements.
  • Basic computer knowledge and skills required.
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English required.
  • Strong customer service skills required.
  • Strong organizational skills required.
  • Ability to read, follow, and interpret regulations and instructions required.
  • Ability to understand verbal instructions required.
  • Ability to read numbers on screening equipment and perform basic mathematical calculations required.
  • Effective communication skills required.
