About the position

This position coordinates all aspects of managing and preparing a donor's collection and day of donation experience at an NMDP apheresis center or marrow collection center. The role focuses on delivering an optimal donor experience while meeting transplant center and patient expectations for on-time delivery. It involves scheduling, coordinating collection activities, and ensuring a memorable experience for donors.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare for the day of collection by obtaining donor demographics and collection documents.
  • Schedule donor activities, including physical exams and marrow collections, and coordinate local lodging and transportation needs.
  • Serve as the main point of contact at the AC/CC, triaging donor and donor center communications.
  • Collect relevant medical documentation to prepare donor charts.
  • Ensure day of collection labs are drawn, labeled, and shipped, and provide necessary NMDP documents.
  • Interact with NMDP Medical Services and donor center team members during collection.
  • Compile medical and laboratory documentation post-donation.
  • Work closely with AC/CC staff to ensure continuity of care and contact donors post-donation as needed.
  • Complete NMDP forms and enter information into appropriate systems within designated timelines.
  • Triaging billing issues and acting as liaison with the billing department.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of medical terminology, case-note documentation, and medical histories.
  • Intermediate computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office software.
  • Ability to handle multiple issues with flexibility and appropriate prioritization.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associate degree in nursing or related healthcare field.
  • Training and experience in health assessment by measuring vital signs and reviewing health history.
  • Experience performing phlebotomy and administering subcutaneous medication.
  • Experience working in a regulated environment with knowledge of Good Tissue Practices (GTP).
  • Bilingual skills.
