About the position

The Donor Engagement & Event Specialist at San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance plays a crucial role in fundraising and donor stewardship through the organization of events and experiences for major donors. This position is responsible for cultivating relationships with donors, managing event logistics, and coordinating with various departments and vendors to ensure successful fundraising activities that support the organization's mission of wildlife conservation.

Responsibilities

• Cultivates and stewards SDZWA donors through customized experiences and tour activities.
• Determines event sites and creates event staffing plans, directing staff and volunteers at events.
• Develops experience and event plans, coordinating logistics with other departments and outside vendors.
• Solicits donations and sponsorships to provide funding for SDZWA.
• Manages SDZWA donor ambassador groups, comprised of major donors and influential community members.
• Contracts and negotiates with outside vendors for event services.

Requirements

• At least four years' experience in event planning and fundraising.
• Experience with coordinating fundraising events.
• Familiarity with Raisers Edge, Reserve, Social Tables, Eventbrite, Zoom, and Go To Webinar.
• Experience working with major donors, community groups, committees, and volunteers.
• Donation solicitation and coordination experience.

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor's Degree in Hospitality preferred.
