About the position
The Donor Engagement Specialist is a remote position focused on engaging and supporting donors in the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) registry. This role requires strong communication skills to educate and assist donors, ensuring they understand the donation process and addressing any misconceptions. The specialist will utilize investigative skills to locate and contact donors, manage donor records, and coordinate necessary activities related to blood donation, all while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with NMDP standards.
Responsibilities
- Contact members/donors for donor search-related activities, locating donors using provided data and internet search tools.
- Educate donors on commitment and retention messages, using open-ended questions to overcome barriers to donation.
- Conduct advanced donor health screenings, collecting medical history and assessing conditions for participation.
- Coordinate blood draws, including appointment scheduling, kit ordering, and tracking.
- Complete operational activities within established timelines and maintain compliance with performance standards.
- Establish and maintain relationships with donor operations, collaborating departments, and external vendors.
- Assist in maintaining the STAR Link donor database and participate in team responsibilities.
Requirements
- Knowledge of MS Office, including basic word processing, spreadsheet, and database software skills.
- Proficient computer skills with the ability to engage customers simultaneously.
- Advanced internet research skills, including familiarity with social media.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to ask probing questions in a call center environment.
- Ability to manage a high volume of challenging file types and deliver solid customer service.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in a mission-driven call center environment.
- Familiarity with HLA and blood stem cell transplantation.
