About the position

The Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) at BioLife Plasma Services plays a crucial role in supporting plasma center operations by ensuring donor eligibility, managing donor reactions, and providing medical support under the guidance of the Plasma Center Manager and Center Physician. This position is vital for maintaining high standards of customer service and quality in plasma collection, contributing to the production of life-changing medicines.

Responsibilities

  • Determine donor eligibility through informed consent, medical history interviews, and physical examinations.
  • Manage donor adverse events and evaluate donor reactions according to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or guidance on medical issues.
  • Support vaccination programs for employees, including Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu.
  • Manage employee incidents and determine the need for further evaluation by occupational health or emergency services.
  • Act as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized, supporting investigations related to pandemic threats.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, including completion of a recognized educational nursing program.
  • Currently licensed or certified in the state of responsibility as an LPN or LVN.
  • Current CPR and AED certification.
  • Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
  • Complete FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
  • Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
