About the position
The Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) at BioLife Plasma Services plays a crucial role in supporting plasma center operations by ensuring donor eligibility, managing donor reactions, and adhering to safety protocols. This position requires a commitment to customer service and quality, as the collected plasma contributes to life-changing medicines. The role involves working under the guidance of the Plasma Center Manager and the Center Physician, focusing on both operational and medical aspects of plasma donation.
Responsibilities
- Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent and medical history interview.
- Manage donor adverse events and evaluate donor reactions according to SOPs.
- Review laboratory test results and notify donors of unsuitable test results.
- Support vaccination programs for employees, such as Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu.
- Manage employee incidents and refer to occupational health as necessary.
- Act as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized, supporting investigations related to pandemic threats.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent, including completion of a recognized educational nursing program.
- Currently licensed or certified in the state of responsibility as LPN or LVN.
- Current CPR and AED certification.
- Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
- Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
