About the position

The Donor Referral Specialist plays a crucial role in the Donor Services Team, providing exceptional customer service to various stakeholders involved in tissue and eye donation. This position requires strong organizational skills and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment, handling incoming calls and referrals, and ensuring effective communication with partner organizations and families. The specialist supports the mission of the organization while adhering to established protocols and quality-driven practices.

Responsibilities

• Deliver quality customer service to stakeholders including partner organizations and donor families.
• Answer incoming department phone lines and triage calls appropriately.
• Maintain department inbox, process incoming referrals, and update records.
• Input and update referrals to determine suitability for tissue and eye donation.
• Monitor potential research dashboard for research donation suitability.
• Communicate with recovery staff according to established protocols.
• Complete donor registry checks and next-of-kin searches.
• Assist with data entry for missed referrals during system maintenance.
• Communicate facility relations concerns to leadership.
• Attend required meetings and trainings as necessary.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience with medical terminology preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and typing at least 45 wpm.
• Entry-level position with less than 1 year of experience.
