WELCOME TO YOUR CENTER! Established as a community non-profit in 1972, The Center provides targeted programs and services to the full diversity of the San Diego LGBTQ community. The mission of The Center is to enhance and sustain the health and well-being of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer, transgender, nonbinary, immigrant, and HIV communities for the betterment of our entire San Diego region. Our vision is to create a Center and Center culture where every person feels and knows that they are welcomed, valued, and supported. As the beacon for our regional LGBTQ community, we actively recommit to being a more vibrant, bold, innovative, safe, and modern center each day than the day before. The Center is sex-positive and provides advocacy and critical health and social support services to support our community members through all stages of life, focusing on our deeply held values of equity, social justice, and client-centered, trauma-informed care. The Center currently has over 75 staff working at five facilities across San Diego County. The Donor Stewardship and Operations Coordinator plays a crucial role in managing and enhancing the donor experience to support the organization's fundraising efforts. This position is responsible for overseeing the administration of the Recurring Donor Program, supporting donor-related events, maintaining a robust donor recognition plan, and providing essential administrative and operational support.

Responsibilities

  • Administer the Recurring Donor Program by monitoring transactions, updating donor records, and conducting follow-up communications through emails and phone calls to sustain donation levels.
  • Assist in organizing donor-related actions, intimate events, special programming, tours, networking, and stewardship opportunities to enhance donor engagement.
  • Work closely with the Database Manager to ensure donor retention by managing weekly gift processing and acknowledgment.
  • Develop and maintain a donor recognition plan that promptly and significantly acknowledges all giving levels.
  • Design engagement opportunities that boost donor satisfaction and reinforce their commitment to the organization.
  • Oversee office management by organizing operations and procedures in the development office, managing supply requisitions, and overseeing clerical functions.
  • Handle communications, including answering phone calls and emails, responding to inquiries, or directing them to appropriate channels.
  • Keep accurate and detailed records of stewardship activities and donor interactions within the donor database.
  • Manage the creation of invoices for community partners, including individuals, corporations, and organizations, ensuring financial transactions are accurately documented and processed.
  • Monitor the Annual Plan to ensure the team is informed and adheres to the plan's details and deadlines, supporting the organization's strategic goals.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in customer management and operational support.
  • Ability to interact with various donors and community members.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Comfort making connections through phone calls.
  • Ability to track and report on goals.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a natural flair for nurturing relationships and networking.
  • A proactive and self-motivated attitude, capable of working independently as well as part of a team.
  • Commitment to the organization's mission and values, with a passion for advancing its goals through effective donor stewardship.
  • Intermediate skills in MS Office Suite.
  • Fluency in English.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proven donor management experience or a similar nonprofit organization role.
  • Experience with event planning and management.
  • Familiarity with financial documentation and invoicing processes.
  • Fluency in Spanish is highly preferred.
