About the position

The Dosimetrist at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission plays a crucial role as a member of the radiation oncology team. This position requires a deep understanding of the characteristics and clinical relevance of radiation oncology treatment machines and equipment. The Dosimetrist is responsible for generating radiation dose distributions and dose calculations in collaboration with the radiation oncologist, ensuring that patients receive the most effective treatment possible. This role is integral to the delivery of high-quality care, as it involves designing patient-specific radiation treatment plans that optimize the delivery of radiation to tumor sites while minimizing exposure to critical normal structures. In this part-time position, the Dosimetrist will work approximately 20 hours a week during part-time day shifts. The role demands a high level of precision and attention to detail, as the Dosimetrist must contour critical normal structures with extreme accuracy using 3D CT anatomy. The successful candidate will utilize a 3D treatment planning computer to design treatment plans that deliver radiation effectively and safely. Additionally, the Dosimetrist will be responsible for generating and transferring all technical documentation and plan parameters to ensure accurate treatment delivery. Responsibilities

  • Serve as a member of the radiation oncology team.
  • Generate radiation dose distributions and dose calculations in collaboration with the radiation oncologist.
  • Design patient radiation treatment plans using a 3D treatment planning computer.
  • Contour critical normal structures with extreme accuracy using 3D CT anatomy.
  • Generate and transfer all technical documentation and plan parameters for treatment preparation and delivery.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 1 Year of Experience
  • Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD)
