About the position

APAC Mississippi, Inc., a CRH company, is seeking dedicated DOT Dump Truck Drivers to join our team in Corinth/Tupelo, MS. As a leading asphalt producer and paver, as well as a major aggregates and ready-mix producer in North America, we pride ourselves on our commitment to safety and employee satisfaction. We are looking for individuals who are not only skilled drivers but also team players who can work collaboratively with co-workers and managers to maintain a safe and productive work environment. In this role, you will be responsible for adhering to all company policies and procedures, particularly those related to safety. You will conduct daily pre/post trip inspections of your vehicle, ensuring compliance with DOT guidelines and company standards. Your duties will include loading and unloading materials, monitoring vehicle gauges during operation, and performing minor maintenance on your truck. You will also be expected to maintain a clean and orderly vehicle and assist in training less-experienced employees. This position requires a commitment to safety, as you will be responsible for your own safety and that of your co-workers while on the job. The ideal candidate will possess a valid CDL Class A and/or B driver's license, have a clean driving record, and be willing to work in various weather conditions. You should be prepared to work nights and weekends as needed and be open to traveling for work assignments. Responsibilities

  • Work in a team environment with co-workers and managers.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures for safe working procedures and environment.
  • Report any problems to your manager.
  • Perform daily pre/post trip inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with DOT guidelines and company policies.
  • Obey applicable laws and follow dispatch instructions.
  • Monitor various gauges during operation of vehicle.
  • Load and unload equipment or materials, which may require unloading by hand or shovel.
  • Assure product quality to the best of the driver's ability.
  • Perform minor servicing and maintenance of equipment; refer major problems to the Foreman.
  • Keep truck in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Maintain constant eye contact with co-workers when backing and communicate using hand signals or other movements.
  • Follow directions of manager regarding daily tasks and expectations for each specific project or jobsite.
  • Assist in training less-experienced employees on proper operations, servicing, and repair of equipment.
  • Perform general labor duties when necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Pass DOT pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
  • Pass a pre-employment 'Fit for Work' physical.
  • Provide valid documentation for the I-9 Immigration document.
  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
  • Be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
  • Be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
  • Report to work at the designated start time.
  • Be able to work overtime when required.
  • Be willing to work outdoors in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold.
  • Strictly adhere to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Have the willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA.
  • Maintain current driver's license that meets state requirements, i.e., CDL, Class A and/or B driver.
  • Have a MVR that meets company standards.
  • Be at least 18 years of age due to the nature of the working environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
  • Previous related experience in the construction field is preferred.
