About the position

The DOT Truck Driver position at APAC Mississippi, Inc., a CRH company, involves working in a team environment alongside co-workers and managers to ensure safe and efficient transportation of materials. The selected candidate will be responsible for adhering to all company policies and procedures related to safety and operational guidelines. This includes performing daily pre/post trip inspections in compliance with DOT regulations, monitoring vehicle gauges during operation, and loading and unloading materials, which may require manual handling depending on the type of materials being transported. The driver must maintain a clean and orderly truck and ensure product quality during transportation. Safety is paramount, and the driver is expected to maintain constant communication with co-workers, especially when backing up, using hand signals or other methods. The role also includes assisting in training less-experienced employees on equipment operations and maintenance, as well as performing general labor duties when necessary. The ideal candidate will be flexible, willing to work nights and weekends, and able to work outdoors in varying temperatures. In addition to driving responsibilities, the driver will report any issues to their manager, follow dispatch instructions, and adhere to OSHA and MSHA regulations. Responsibilities

  • Work in a team environment with co-workers and managers.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures for safe working procedures and environment.
  • Report any problems to your manager.
  • Perform daily pre/post trip inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with DOT guidelines and company policies.
  • Obey applicable laws and follow dispatch instructions.
  • Monitor various gauges during operation of vehicle.
  • Load and unload equipment or materials, which may require unloading by hand or shovel.
  • Assure product quality to the best of the driver's ability.
  • Perform minor servicing and maintenance of equipment; refer major problems to the Foreman.
  • Keep the truck in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Maintain a safe work environment for themselves and co-workers.
  • Maintain constant eye contact with co-workers when backing and communicate using hand signals or other movements.
  • Follow directions of manager regarding daily tasks and expectations for each specific project or jobsite.
  • Assist in training less-experienced employees on proper operations, servicing, and repair of equipment.
  • Perform general labor duties when necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Pass DOT pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
  • Pass a pre-employment Fit for Work physical.
  • Provide valid documentation for the I-9 Immigration document.
  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
  • Be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
  • Be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
  • Report to work at the designated start time.
  • Be able to work overtime when required.
  • Be willing to work outdoors in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold.
  • Strictly adhere to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Have the willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA.
  • Maintain a current driver's license that meets state requirements, i.e., CDL, Class A and/or B driver.
  • Have a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) that meets company standards.
  • Be at least 18 years of age due to the nature of the working environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
  • Previous related experience in the construction field is preferred.
