About the position

The Operations Manager at NRG is responsible for leading the operations staff and managing all aspects of a power plant's operations. This role ensures safe, environmentally compliant, and efficient operations while promoting productivity and teamwork. The Operations Manager plays a critical role in maintaining regulatory compliance, optimizing plant performance, and providing leadership in safety and operational policies.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Operations staff and manage all aspects of power plant operations.
• Ensure safe, environmentally compliant, and efficient operations of the plant.
• Promote productivity and teamwork in Operations through open communication and personal leadership.
• Champion Human Performance and the use of Error-Reduction tools.
• Monitor plant and unit performance, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
• Set maintenance priorities and schedule maintenance in conjunction with the Maintenance Manager.
• Coordinate unit load scheduling, testing, and outage plans, acting as the primary interface with Commercial Operations.
• Ensure proper training is provided to Plant Operators and monitor work schedules and plans.
• Maintain communications with other areas of the Company to facilitate process improvement initiatives.
• Administer and participate in the resolution of labor issues and coordinate emergency response efforts.

Requirements

• Associates degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum of 8 years of power plant experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of full-time supervisory experience within a fossil fuel power plant.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Ability to work overtime and non-standard working hours.

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a Technical related field.
• Background in plant performance and supercritical experience.
