About the position

The Town of Garner is seeking a Downtown and Economic Development Administrator to enhance the creation and retention of small businesses in the community and develop the Downtown/North Garner area into a vibrant center for business, residential, entertainment, and culture. The role involves revitalization, redevelopment, and preservation activities in collaboration with government and private organizations, focusing on community engagement and relationship building with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as liaison to the Downtown Garner Association (DGA) and administer the Main Street program.
  • Develop strategies to increase revitalization of downtown and promote existing businesses.
  • Plan and execute monthly meetings, agendas, budgets, and reports on activities.
  • Coordinate and manage the Main Street program, ensuring compliance with state requirements.
  • Manage the Downtown Social District to ensure participation requests and regulations are met.
  • Prepare and administer budget for the DGA; oversee fundraising and manage relationships with board members and volunteers.
  • Lead development and implementation of the annual plan of work and coordinate downtown special events.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with community leaders, organizations, and business representatives.
  • Plan, organize, coordinate, and implement various promotional and cultural events.
  • Coordinate design and construction of enhancement and beautification projects with stakeholders.
  • Support entrepreneurship programs with internal and external partners.
  • Administer business grant programs to encourage investment opportunities by Downtown businesses.
  • Plan and administer marketing and public relations programs for the downtown area, including social media outreach.
  • Prepare and maintain records on sites, demographics, economic base, and related statistics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in business administration, marketing, planning, public administration, communications, or a related field.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in community/economic development, downtown revitalization, small business advising, and/or marketing.
  • Working knowledge of QuickBooks Accounting Software.
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience with the Main Street program.

Benefits

  • Full-time position with a competitive salary range of $63,315.20 - $82,305.60 per year.
