About the position

The Project & Compliance Coordinator at the Texas Department of Public Safety is responsible for overseeing and implementing administrative operations and activities related to procurement and contract management. This role involves coordinating special projects, conducting research and analysis, and ensuring compliance with established guidelines and procedures. The position requires a blend of organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently under general supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with the development of requisitions for Procurement & Contract Services and Enterprise Portfolio Management Office, including entering requisitions into CAPPS and developing scope of work statements.
  • Plans and directs the administration of divisional contracts, evaluates activities associated with assigned contracts, and reports findings to management.
  • Develops contract administration policies and procedures, ensuring adherence to contract requirements across the organization.
  • Coordinates and maintains an accurate filing system for all division procurements and contracts, monitoring expiring contracts and ensuring continuity of services.
  • Reviews and evaluates new business processes and management practices for application to agency programs, identifying areas for procedural changes and making recommendations.
  • Assists with the generation of contract-related reports and tracks division contracts that have not been approved, ensuring proper follow-up.
  • Coordinates organizational studies and evaluations, preparing operations and procedures manuals to enhance efficiency.
  • Attends work regularly and observes approved work hours.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • Minimum of one year related experience in contract development, management, evaluation, or monitoring.
  • Working knowledge of Texas procurement regulations preferred.
  • Ability to achieve DPS Purchase Liaison Certification within three months of employment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience as a certified DPS Purchase Liaison is preferred.
  • Prior experience with Texas procurement regulations.
