About the position

The General Manager at Dairy Queen is responsible for overseeing all aspects of restaurant operations, ensuring financial performance, product quality, and customer satisfaction. This role involves creating a positive work environment, training staff, managing inventory, and developing business strategies to enhance sales and profitability. The General Manager will also handle customer service issues and implement marketing strategies to attract new customers while maintaining high standards of health and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee entire restaurant operations including financial performance, product production, inventory, personnel, sales, and marketing.
  • Strive for operational levels that meet or exceed customer expectations in quality, service, and atmosphere.
  • Ensure all management and crew members are trained on PRIDE systems, product recipes, and food safety practices.
  • Develop the restaurant's business plan in collaboration with the owner and business consultants.
  • Manage profit and loss to optimize sales and profit, analyzing costs and taking corrective actions as necessary.
  • Prepare financial forecasts and budgets, reviewing financial reports for variances and establishing financial controls.
  • Ensure customer service meets or exceeds company standards and handle customer complaints effectively.
  • Hire, train, coach, and develop the management team and crew members to build a skilled and productive team.
  • Conduct employee performance appraisals and maintain a positive working relationship with all staff.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5 years of restaurant management experience with responsibility for profit and loss.
  • Previous quick service restaurant experience preferred.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • ServSafe® certified or approved equivalent.
  • Strong hospitality and customer service skills.
  • Ability to train and coach others on restaurant routines and systems.
  • Excellent management skills with a track record of resolving employee relations issues.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to oversee multiple areas simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with computers and Point of Sale systems.
