About the position

The Draft Person Mechanical position at Thompson Pump is designed to provide essential engineering drafting and documentation support to the engineering group. The role involves reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports. The successful candidate will utilize various tools for measurements and will be responsible for developing manufacturing drawings of products using drafting tools or computer-assisted design software such as Solid Works and CAD. This position requires the preparation of detailed manufacturing drawings, including assembly procedures, decal locations, exploded views, parts lists, and repair manuals. In addition to drafting responsibilities, the Draft Person will recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions and confer with engineers to discuss existing or potential engineering projects or products. The role also includes performing detailed calculations to compute and establish manufacturing, construction, or installation standards or specifications, as well as preparing bills of materials and issuing drawings to suppliers for applicable purchase orders. A critical aspect of this position is the review of drawings to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering drafting and documentation support to the engineering group.

Requirements

  • Drafting Certification in AutoCAD/Solid Works (Associates degree) or three to five years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of Word Processing software and Spreadsheet software.
  • Capability of drawing in 2D and 3D.
  • Good working knowledge of Drafting symbols and tolerances.
  • Good working knowledge of materials types.
  • Good working knowledge of electrical drawings.
