About the position

The Drafter / CAD Operator III position at Scientific Research Corporation involves a critical role in the design and execution of layouts for complex products and equipment, particularly in the electrical or mechanical domains. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing original design work based on defined design goals or problems, utilizing advanced drafting techniques and a thorough understanding of practical fabrication methods. This role requires a high level of creativity and technical expertise, as the individual will need to solve routine engineering problems, including but not limited to simple stress analysis, heat transfer, vibrations, and acoustic isolation. The position also emphasizes the importance of strength-to-weight efficiency, material availability, ease of fabrication, and interchangeability in the design process. In addition to design responsibilities, the Drafter / CAD Operator III will engage in 3D modeling and additive manufacturing to support various project objectives. The role necessitates the development and maintenance of system models using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software such as Inventor or Solid Works. This includes generating comprehensive design descriptions for selected solutions, creating specifications for 'make-to,' 'buy-to,' and 'reuse-to' processes, and initiating the development or acquisition of system products and enabling products. The position requires a significant degree of initiative, independent judgment, and the ability to work autonomously with minimal technical direction. Scientific Research Corporation is committed to providing innovative products and services to both government and private sectors. The company prides itself on its diverse and inclusive work environment, which fosters excellence and responsiveness to the needs of its varied clientele. As a contractor for the U.S. government, this position mandates U.S. citizenship and a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance. The company offers a competitive salary and an extensive benefits package, ensuring a supportive work environment for its employees.
