About the position

The Bureau of Abandoned Mine Reclamation within the Department of Environmental Protection is seeking a skilled Drafter Designer to join their team. This position is integral to the development and execution of various technical assignments related to civil, mining, and environmental engineering initiatives. As a Drafter Designer, you will be responsible for preparing detailed plans, sections, and specifications for abandoned mine reclamation projects. These projects can vary significantly in complexity and scope, requiring a keen understanding of engineering principles and environmental considerations. In this role, you will design reclamation projects, ensuring they are executed effectively and efficiently while adhering to safety regulations and project requirements. Your work will involve collaborating with engineers and other professionals to assess project needs and develop comprehensive plans that facilitate the successful reclamation of abandoned mine sites. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to public service while fostering personal and professional growth in a supportive environment. The work schedule is full-time, with hours from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday, including a 30-minute lunch break. There is also the potential for telework, provided you have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location within Pennsylvania. The starting salary for this position is $50,836.00 annually, with the possibility of higher compensation based on experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed plans, sections, and specifications for abandoned mine reclamation projects.
  • Design reclamation projects ensuring compliance with safety regulations and project requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other professionals to assess project needs.
  • Consider environmental factors in the design and execution of reclamation projects.
  • Ensure effective and efficient execution of assigned technical assignments.

Requirements

  • Two years of experience as a Drafter; or
  • Two years of experience as an Environmental Engineering Technician, including one year of engineering, architectural, or survey drafting work, supplemented by six months of CADD experience or training; or
  • Two years of experience in engineering, architectural, or survey drafting work, supplemented by six months of CADD experience or training, and an Associate's Degree in engineering technology or Computer Aided Drafting and Design; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and/or training, including six months of CADD experience or training.
