About the position

As a Drafter | Detailer in our Engineering department, you will play a crucial role in transforming innovative designs into reality. This position requires a motivated and detail-oriented individual who is passionate about heavy equipment manufacturing. You will be responsible for efficiently modeling fully defined components and assemblies using SolidWorks, a leading CAD software. Your primary focus will be on creating and updating parametric drawings that conform to 3D modeling standards, ensuring that all designs meet the necessary specifications and quality standards. In this role, you will develop detailed design drawings and specifications for mechanical equipment, utilizing computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment. You will document technical details into schematics, drawings, and parts lists that will be used in production and service. Your ability to produce 3D models using CAD software will be essential, as will your skills in laying out and drawing schematic, orthographic, or angle views to depict functional relationships of components, assemblies, systems, and machines. Additionally, you will create and/or revise documentation for bills of materials (BOM), position instructions and comments into drawings, and troubleshoot issues and concerns by collaborating with other departments to ensure quality standards are maintained. Ensuring the quality and accuracy of all procedures, instructions, technical data, and parts illustrations will be a key responsibility. You will also modify and revise designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production issues, and update and/or revise engineering documents to current departmental standards.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot issues and concerns, collaborating with other departments to ensure quality standards are kept.
  • Ensure quality and accuracy of all procedures, instructions, technical data, and parts illustrations.

Requirements

  • Associates degree, trade or technical school certification in a related field or equivalent work experience is required.
  • Proficient computer skills in MS Office, SolidWorks, Auto CAD, or other computer assisted design programs is highly desirable.
  • Experience working on hydraulic and electrical schematics is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of math, and strong analytical, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
  • Must be detail oriented with a mechanical aptitude.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to work with little supervision, and ability to work independently or as a part of a team.
  • Previous experience with NetSuite or other ERP operating systems considered an asset.
  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
