About the position

The Drafter/Detailer position at Holt Metals and Fabrication involves producing detailed drawings for the fabrication of miscellaneous steel components. The role requires collaboration with engineers, project managers, and fabrication teams to ensure accuracy and quality in design documentation, contributing to various commercial, industrial, and residential projects.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed, accurate 2D and 3D drawings for miscellaneous steel components, such as stairs, handrails, ladders, and other structural elements.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and fabricators to ensure all drawings meet design specifications and comply with project requirements.
• Create and modify shop drawings, assembly drawings, and material lists based on client specifications and project needs.
• Review and interpret blueprints, sketches, and technical specifications to accurately detail steel elements.
• Ensure that all designs comply with industry standards, codes, and regulations.
• Coordinate and resolve any design or fabrication issues during the drafting and fabrication phases.
• Assist in reviewing material take-offs, providing accurate quantities for procurement.
• Maintain accurate project records and update project drawings as necessary.
• Work efficiently to meet project deadlines and maintain project schedules.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Drafter/Detailer in miscellaneous steel or structural steel detailing (minimum of 3 years).
• Proficient in CAD software (AutoCAD, Advanced steel, or similar tools).
• Strong understanding of steel fabrication processes, welding, and structural components.
• Knowledge of steel design codes and standards (e.g., AISC, OSHA, etc.).
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree or related certification in drafting or engineering preferred.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Tekla Structures or similar 3D modeling software.
• Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modeling) processes.
• Experience in both commercial and industrial steel detailing projects.
• Certification in CAD or Drafting.
