About the position

The Professional Division of Spherion Mid Ohio is excited to partner with a strong and reputable client in Wayne County, Ohio, seeking a skilled Drafter to join their team. This position is a direct hire opportunity, meaning that if selected, you will be an employee of the company from day one, without going through a temp-to-hire process. The Drafter will play a crucial role in supporting sales representatives by providing technical expertise and transforming product designs into customized applications for customers. This role involves reading incoming orders to identify necessary components, adapting product designs to meet customer requirements, and ensuring all engineering drawings adhere to established specifications and standards. Under the general supervision of management, the Drafter will develop working plans and contribute to the continuous improvement of quality and product offerings. The essential duties of the Drafter include interpreting and editing distributor orders, identifying and resolving any errors, and making judgment calls to resolve problems or provide recommendations. The Drafter will compile necessary documentation for the Production and Shipping Departments, noting special handling, components, or construction requirements. Additionally, the Drafter will make item master additions and changes, read and understand cutting bills and load sheets, and assist all departments to drive out costs and improve quality and product offerings. The role also involves working with customers to resolve issues regarding availability, order entry problems, and minor engineering issues, checking dimensions, verifying finished work, and compiling documentation required for fabrication and assembly of equipment. The Drafter will develop layouts from predetermined basic drawings, determine reference plans, centering and dimension lines, hidden line interpolations, and sectioning, and review specifications for parts, assemblies, and installations. Furthermore, the Drafter will contribute design modifications to improve product quality or facilitate manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Proficiency in using standard computer software.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and other relevant design software.
  • Bachelor's Degree, Vocational Technical Training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
