About the position

Drafter I is responsible for preparing drawings and 3D models of simple materials, hardware, and specimens based on detailed mark-ups, sketches, or premade models. The role involves revising existing drawings, creating new ones, and utilizing software tools to manage and track documentation. The Drafter I works under the guidance of a supervisor, who provides detailed instructions and reviews completed work for accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Revise original drawings of existing materials, specimens, and hardware.
• Create simple drawings for billet cutting plans, test specimens, and hardware.
• Produce or edit typical 3D models from mark-ups to reflect the requirements of the drawings.
• Use On-Base software to track ECOs, generate drawing numbers, and generate part numbers.
• Store drawings and 3D models in PDM through checking files in/out.
• Utilize PDM to track revisions and notify relevant people of approval processes.
• Learn company drafting standards ANSI 14.5, drawing practices ASME 14.5, and SolidWorks templates.
• Work with team members to clarify or resolve drafting requirement questions.
• Print, file, and organize paper drawings or electronic copies.
• Help maintain PDF library with guidance of supervisor.
• Complete all safety training and ensure compliance.
• Perform other duties as required by supervisor.

Requirements

• Must be able to obtain/maintain security clearance at a level equivalent to Department of Defense (DOD) SECRET.
• Associate Degree or Certification in CAD.
• SolidWorks software experience.
• Capable of managing workload and job functions with the assistance of EDG group members.
• Good communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Demonstrated moderate level of knowledge/experience with SolidWorks.
• SolidWorks PDM experience.
