About the position
The Drafter I position at Kratos Defense involves preparing drawings and 3D models of simple materials, hardware, and specimens based on detailed instructions and existing designs. The role requires collaboration with team members and adherence to company drafting standards, with a focus on accuracy and compliance with safety training.
Responsibilities
- Revise original drawings of existing materials, specimens, and hardware.
- Create simple drawings for billet cutting plans, test specimens, and hardware.
- Produce or edit typical 3D models from mark-ups to reflect the requirements of the drawings.
- Use On-Base software to track ECOs, generate drawing numbers, and generate part numbers.
- Store drawings and 3D models in PDM through checking files in/out.
- Utilize PDM to track revisions and notify relevant people of approval processes.
- Learn company drafting standards ANSI 14.5, drawing practices ASME 14.5, and SolidWorks templates.
- Work with team members to clarify or resolve drafting requirement questions.
- Print, file, and organize paper drawings or electronic copies.
- Help maintain PDF library with guidance of supervisor.
- Complete all safety training and ensure compliance.
- Perform other duties as required by supervisor.
Requirements
- US Citizenship required
- Must be able to obtain/maintain security clearance at a level equivalent to Department of Defense (DOD) SECRET
- Associate Degree or Certification in CAD
- SolidWorks software experience
- Capable of managing workload and job functions with the assistance of EDG group members
- Good communication skills
Nice-to-haves
- Demonstrated moderate level of knowledge/experience with SolidWorks.
- SolidWorks PDM experience.
