Dashiell is a leading national provider of technical services to the electric utility, power generation, industrial, renewable, and energy industries. The Drafter I position is primarily focused on performing drafting duties using basic drafting skills and techniques for medium/high voltage substation or transmission line drawings. The assignments for this role are closely supervised and are designed to develop the employee's understanding of drafting techniques, corporate/client standards, and procedures. Drafters will be dedicated to either Electrical, Transmission, or Civil/Structural design projects, ensuring that they gain specialized knowledge in their respective areas. In this role, the employee may be called upon to perform various functions, including revising CADD drawings per engineering markups, performing engineering support tasks under direct supervision, and learning to apply corporate/client standards of drafting and engineering practices. The Drafter I will also be responsible for using document management systems effectively and taking personal responsibility for the quality and accuracy of their work. It is essential for the Drafter to bring potential project-related problems and possible solutions to the attention of the responsible party. The position may require travel out of town for short periods as required by projects and assignments, and the employee may be expected to work extended hours, including weekends, periodically. The minimum qualifications for this position include an Associate degree in drafting & design or a certificate in drafting & design with relevant work experience. Candidates should possess skills in AutoCAD 2010 and newer, with experience in Microstation and 3D CADD being preferred but not required. Basic drafting skills, including drawing scales and layouts, as well as proficiency in CADD, word processing, spreadsheet, and email software, are necessary. The ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively, both written and verbally, is also crucial for success in this role.
