About the position

The Drafter position at Idaho National Laboratory (INL) involves working in the Materials and Fuels Complex (MFC) Drafting department, where the team operates on a 4x10 schedule with Fridays off. The role focuses on planning, preparing, and revising engineering drawings using both manual methods and computer-aided design (CAD) tools. The Drafter will contribute to the development of nuclear fuels through detailed drafting work, ensuring compliance with company and national standards.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, lay out, prepare, and revise engineering drawings manually or using CAD equipment in areas such as architectural, structural, civil, mechanical, or electrical drafting.
  • Prepare complex new drawings and perform drawing changes consistent with company and nationally recognized procedures and standards, including 2D line work and 3D modeling.
  • Determine drawing elements such as dimensions, part/component selection, tolerance, and design and process parameters.
  • Evaluate design input from project engineers and collaborate with design engineers.
  • Make required mathematical calculations, including geometric and tolerance stack-up calculations.
  • Specify parts, assemblies, and installation in collaboration with design engineers.
  • Contribute design modification ideas to improve product quality or facilitate construction/fabrication.
  • Provide field/as-building documentation support.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of Creo, AutoCAD, Revit, and other modeling software.
  • Report progress appropriately to project and line management.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent and 2 years related experience for Level 2.
  • High School diploma or equivalent and 4 years related experience for Level 3.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy 'L' clearance, requiring US Citizenship.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with CAD software such as Creo, AutoCAD, and Revit.
  • Familiarity with nuclear energy research and development processes.
