About the position

Idaho National Laboratory is seeking a Drafter to join our Design and Drafting department. This position is integral to our team, which operates on a 9x80 schedule, allowing for every other Friday off. The Drafter will be responsible for preparing complex new drawings and making necessary drawing changes in accordance with both company and nationally recognized procedures and standards. This role reports directly to the manager of the Design and Drafting department within the Facility and Site Services (F&SS) organization. In this position, you will engage in a variety of tasks that include performing 2D line work and 3D modeling. You will assist in determining essential drawing elements such as dimensions, part/component selection, tolerances, and design and process parameters. Collaborating closely with project engineers and design engineers, you will evaluate design inputs and make required mathematical calculations, including geometric and tolerance stack-up calculations. Your contributions will also extend to specifying parts, assemblies, and installations, as well as providing design modification ideas aimed at enhancing product quality or facilitating construction and fabrication processes. Additionally, you will provide field and as-built documentation support and maintain a working knowledge of software tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, and other modeling software. The role may occasionally require collaboration with professionals outside the F&SS organization, and you will be expected to report progress appropriately to both the project team and line management.
