The Drafter at Berkshire Hathaway Energy is a pivotal role responsible for creating precise technical construction drawings, building and site maps, and detailed building specifications. This position requires proficiency in both manual drafting techniques and computer-assisted design tools, specifically AutoCAD Architecture and Revit. The drafter will engage in various design services for new construction projects and renovations, ensuring that all designs meet the necessary standards and regulations. In this role, the drafter will coordinate with internal stakeholders and external vendors to explore facility and interior design options, ultimately leading to the development of comprehensive construction plans. A significant part of the job involves preparing schematic design cost estimates and project budget packages, which are essential for effective project management. The drafter will also conduct project plan reviews to ensure that bid packages align with the desired outcomes and that building floor plans and furniture layouts comply with federal, state, and local building codes, including ADA standards. Additionally, the drafter will be responsible for maintaining the company's building plans, ensuring that building costs are accurately allocated to individual business units and affiliates as per the operating agreement. This role also includes developing and overseeing construction project specifications, managing requests for proposals, conducting bid reviews, and collaborating with procurement for supplier and contractor selection related to building construction, interior design, and furnishings. The drafter must also understand and implement physical security standards and Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) requirements as necessary for various departments and buildings. Furthermore, the drafter will assist in developing Business Continuity plans as they pertain to MEC facilities. The position may also involve performing additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.
