Idaho National Laboratory is seeking a skilled Drafter to join our Experiment Design department. This position is integral to our engineering project teams, where you will apply your mastery level knowledge of mechanical engineering design and drafting skills to develop engineered design drawings and supporting documentation for various structures, systems, and components. The role is based at our Research Education Campus, where you will work a 9x80 schedule, enjoying every other Friday off. As a Drafter, you will collaborate closely with engineers, technicians, operations personnel, project managers, and fellow drafters to ensure that design drawings meet customer requirements. You will also be responsible for planning design execution strategies, which may include cost estimates and schedule inputs to meet project milestones. In this role, you will engage in complex multi-discipline teams to perform definitive design and drafting tasks. Your responsibilities will include providing field support during fabrication, construction, and start-up phases, as well as coordinating checking and drafting activities with drafting personnel, leads, engineers, and management. Additionally, you will guide and mentor junior staff, ensuring that they develop their skills effectively. You will be expected to plan, lay out, prepare, and revise engineering drawings, either manually or using computer-aided design equipment, across various specializations such as architectural, structural, civil, mechanical, or electrical drafting. This will involve working from notes, sketches, or general instructions to produce high-quality engineering drawings.
