About the position

RAM MANUFACTURING has an immediate opening for a Draftsman to join our engineering staff. This position will require the individual to physically measure and then generate consistent and accurate CAD drawings of parts using CAD software. The selected candidate will be responsible for determining the manufacturing process of a new product from the fixture/workholding stage to the finished product. This role is crucial in ensuring that all drawings convey the correct information and meet the necessary standards for manufacturing and quality checks. The Draftsman will utilize CAD to develop detailed fabrication drawings, including part details and assemblies. They will also develop structural models using detailing software and analyze part prints, customer requirements, and established standards to determine the inspection criteria for manufacturing flow and quality checks. The role requires the use of precision measuring instruments and tools such as micrometers, calipers, and CMMs to accurately gather data for the development of documented items. Additionally, the Draftsman will create detailed bills of materials for purchase orders and future kit building, and work closely with all departments in the company to ensure that the drawings are accurate and informative. The position also involves verifying the accuracy and proper application of geometric dimensioning and tolerances on prints and inspection documents, monitoring and documenting any changes made to existing prints and technical drawings, troubleshooting problems with the Engineering Department related to design, and assisting in the design of new products. This role is essential for maintaining the high standards of quality and efficiency that RAM MANUFACTURING is known for.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize CAD to develop detailed fabrication drawings including part details and assemblies.
  • Develop structural models utilizing detailing software.
  • Analyze part prints, customer requirements and established standards to determine the inspection criteria for manufacturing flow and quality checks.
  • Utilize precision measuring instruments and tools (micrometer, caliper, CMM, etc.) to accurately gather data for the development of documented items.
  • Create detailed bill of materials for purchase orders and future kit building.
  • Work closely with all departments in the company to ensure that the drawings convey the correct information.
  • Verify accuracy and proper application of geometric dimensioning & tolerances on prints and inspection documents.
  • Monitor, document, and control any changes made to existing prints and technical drawings.
  • Troubleshoot problems with the Engineering Department in relation to Engineering Design.
  • Assist and aid the Engineering Department in design of new products.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Postsecondary education in Drafting Design (or equivalent) and two years' experience utilizing AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
  • Outstanding ability to read and understand mechanical specifications and drawings.
  • Experience in Industrial and Mechanical fields.
  • Basic working knowledge and understanding of machine tooling and proper usage.
  • General and practical knowledge of measuring tools, equipment, and concepts.
  • Excellent working knowledge of geometric tolerancing and dimensioning.
  • Sheet Metal Experience a Plus.
  • Programming Experience a Plus.
