About the position

POWER Engineers is currently seeking a Drafter to join our Power Delivery Overhead Transmission Line Department in our Portland, Oregon office. This position offers a unique opportunity to be part of a dynamic team that provides engineering services to clients across the country and abroad. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading, supporting, and coordinating various tasks that align with POWER's core values of "Do Good, Have Fun, Build Success." You will work in a team environment to build strong internal and external relationships, ensuring that all project requirements are met with the utmost quality and efficiency. In terms of technical requirements and development, you will be expected to develop a working knowledge of Client/Power CAD Standards and Compliance, adhering to POWER's QA/QC procedures. This role requires maintaining a high level of drafting quality and efficiency in alignment with project scope and budget. You will gain experience in both AutoCAD and MicroStation, supporting various project requirements such as vicinity maps, structure lists, plan and profiles, phasing drawings, foundation drawings, structure assembly drawings, permit and crossing drawings, and load and design drawings. Additionally, you may need to travel to POWER or client offices, field sites, or vendor facilities as needed.

  • Travel to POWER or client offices/field/vendor facilities as needed.

Requirements

  • Associates degree or 1-year certificate in drafting (or equivalent technical degree).
  • Experience with AutoCAD 2020-2024.
  • Adobe PDF creation skills.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Flexibility to changes in work assignments as project needs evolve.
  • Ability to self-check work for completeness and accuracy.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and drawing mark-ups.
  • Proficiency in using architectural and engineering scales to read and create drawings.
  • Strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with MicroStation is a plus.
  • Knowledge of MS Office products.
  • Good background in basic mathematics.
  • Experience working with 3D drafting and detailing is a plus.
  • Bluebeam Revu experience is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of survey coordinate systems is a plus.
  • Practical intern or utility industry experience is preferred.
