About the position

The Drafting Designer at QB Johnson Manufacturing, Inc. is responsible for creating detailed fabrication drawings for various equipment used in manufacturing processes. This role serves as a critical communication link between the design team and the shop floor, ensuring that custom pressure vessels, heat exchangers, separators, and skid assemblies are accurately fabricated according to specifications.

Responsibilities

• Develop 2D/3D fabrication drawings using AutoCAD.
• Work closely with Engineers to convey design on detailed custom fabrication drawings.
• Manage and release drawings to the shop foreman and quality department, ensuring they have the latest revisions.
• Create bills of material for drawings.
• Balance multiple projects at one time and prioritize accordingly.
• Read and follow customer/project-related specifications and standards.

Requirements

• Proficient in AutoCAD for developing fabrication drawings.
• Experience with piping, sheet metal, and large assemblies.
• Associate degree or equivalent education and experience.
• Understanding of fabrication and manufacturing processes.
• Knowledge of drafting standards and AWS welding symbols.
• Familiarity with ASME Section VIII codes.
• Basic computer skills for maintaining library components (Word, Excel, Record-keeping software, Outlook).
• Ability to organize and prioritize workload.
• Detail-oriented, dependable, and highly motivated.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Compress or equivalent pressure vessel software.
• Familiarity with Solidworks PDM is a plus, especially in producing drawings for production.
• Knowledge of Cadworx and P&IDs.
