About the position

The Drafting Technician II at Qualus is responsible for creating technical drawings and plans using CAD software, primarily AutoCAD and/or MicroStation. This role involves interpreting designs from engineers and converting them into detailed drawings for various engineering projects. The technician collaborates with project teams to ensure accuracy and compliance with project requirements, while also maintaining CAD document archives and providing technical support for CAD-related software.

Responsibilities

• Provide production CAD support by developing, implementing, and enforcing client standards while supplying technical support for all CAD-related software.
• Prepare clean, complete, and accurate documents and working drawings from rough or detailed specifications or sketches as prepared by the engineer.
• Follow drawing production and client standards.
• Prepare construction and demo drawings and submittal packages as required.
• Perform quality checks on final drawings and layouts using QA/QC checklists.
• Clean and organize CAD files for project closeout.
• Set up project drawing files and schedule drawing completions.
• Develop single lines, three lines, AC and DC schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, sections, and details using AutoCAD.
• Maintain CAD document archive and retrieval for projects and ensure the integrity of the drawings and its system.
• Act as a liaison for operations, project engineering teams, and vendors.
• Check dimensions and parts, insert/modify cells and blocks into individual drawings.
• Assist the Engineer with coordination and shop drawing review during the final administration of projects.
• Organize CAD drawings and files.

Requirements

• AA/AS degree in Computer Aided Software Design, Engineering Technology, or related (preferred).
• Proficient in AutoCAD design software (and/or AutoCAD 3D, AutoCAD Electrical). MicroStation is a plus.
• Intermediate drafting and design skills.
• Ability to apply basic concepts of algebra and geometry.
• Ability to work well both in a team and independently.
• Ability to effectively handle multiple projects concurrently.
• Ability to create aesthetically pleasing and usable drawings.
• Effective presentation skills.
