About the position

Kratos Defense & Rocket Support Services, Inc. is currently seeking a Draftsman (Drawing Checker) who will be responsible for preparing complex mechanical drawings and diagrams from existing models and sketches. The ideal candidate must demonstrate proficiency in ASME-Y14.100 drawing standards and dimensioning and tolerancing as per ASME Y14.5-2009. This role involves maintaining and updating the configuration control database of in-production CAD models and drawings, ensuring that all documentation is current and compliant with established standards. The successful candidate will also be tasked with updating and reformatting existing drawings to align with current standards, as well as tracking and implementing all redlines and engineering change orders. The primary function of this position is to check drawings for Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and overall manufacturability using SolidWorks software. Additionally, the candidate will create part and assembly level drawing packages from existing CAD models. Experience in working with Product Data Management (PDM) systems and a strong understanding of configuration management principles are essential. The ability to analyze engineering change requests and redlines to determine necessary changes or modifications to the drawing packages is also a critical aspect of this role. Other job functions may include preparing spreadsheets and other written correspondence as required, along with any additional duties assigned by management.

Responsibilities

  • Check drawings for GD&T and overall manufacturability using SolidWorks software.
  • Create part and assembly level drawing packages from existing CAD models.
  • Maintain and update configuration control database of in-production CAD models and drawings.
  • Update/reformat existing drawings to conform to current standards.
  • Track and implement all redlines and engineering change orders.
  • Prepare spreadsheets and other written correspondence as needed.

Requirements

  • 5-10 years of experience as a Draftsman.
  • Proficiency in ASME-Y14.100 drawing standards and ASME Y14.5-2009 dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Experience preparing drawings using SolidWorks.
  • Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by government standards.
  • Strong understanding of configuration management principles.
  • Ability to analyze engineering change requests and redlines to determine necessary changes.
