About the position

The Draftsman & Project Administrator role at Garden on the Wall involves managing day-to-day project activities within an office environment, providing support to various teams including Design, Project Management, Fabrication, and Installation Coordination. The position focuses on facilitating successful project completions while engaging with biophilic design concepts and serving Fortune 500 clients. The ideal candidate will be responsible for reading architectural drawings, monitoring project schedules, and ensuring effective communication between teams.

Responsibilities

  • Read and comprehend architectural drawings, specifications, addenda, bid materials, contracts and other related documents.
  • Interface and assist Estimating and Project Management teams to develop a clear understanding of project scope during submittal, field verification, fabrication, and installation phases.
  • Monitor schedules and track all changes of active projects to ensure alignment with initial budgets/contracts.
  • Coordinate with Project Management team to ensure all documentation is maintained for each project.
  • Coordinate UPS shipments of Mock-ups for each project.
  • Assist prompting and coordinating field verifications while ensuring correct mobilization timelines to align with the project requirements.
  • Assist project management and carpentry teams to interpret the retrieved field dimensions' alignment with shop drawings/contracted scope as defined by submittals.
  • Coordinate and monitor the scheduling and drafting of all internal project work including creation of panel layouts, CNC/CAD files, carpentry, and fabrication processes.
  • Assist Installation Coordinator on weekly scheduling to ensure each project deadline is met.
  • Work on multiple projects with diligence and commitment (typically 100+ active in various phases).
  • Assist managing the process for Requests for Information (RFI).
  • Act as a liaison between project management team and fabrication team, ensuring the schedules are met and mock-ups prepared on time.
  • Organize the shipments of the mock-ups and samples to GC and architecture teams for approvals.
  • Assist operations team in preparation and shipment of the sample boxes, promotional items to be distributed during Sponsorship Events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or Civil Engineering preferred.
  • Preferably 2 years of experience in the Construction Industry related to Architecture and/or Civil Engineering.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, AutoCAD, Rhino 3D, with basic knowledge of Sketchup, Photoshop or Illustrator preferred.
  • Understanding of basic construction methods and materials.
  • Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work individually as well as a team member.
  • Articulate with a clear and analytical approach to problem solving.
  • Strong decision-making abilities and time management skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
  • Experience with Sketchup, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator preferred.
