Draftsman

About the position

This role involves working closely with customers to translate their specifications and requirements into accurate and detailed technical models and drawings. The ideal candidate will have exceptional communication skills, proficiency with CAD software, and a customer-focused mindset to ensure designs meet exact expectations.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate directly with customers to gather and understand design requirements, specifications, and project objectives.
• Develop detailed 2D and 3D technical drawings and models using CAD software (e.g., Solid Edge).
• Provide design recommendations and solutions to meet customer needs while ensuring manufacturability and cost-efficiency.
• Review and interpret customer sketches, blueprints, and technical documents to create accurate representations.
• Maintain regular communication with customers to address design changes, updates, or concerns.
• Ensure all designs comply with industry standards, company guidelines, and project specifications.
• Collaborate with internal teams, including engineering and production, to ensure seamless handoff of completed designs.
• Document and organize all project-related files, including revisions and approvals.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to design discrepancies or customer feedback.

Requirements

• Associate's degree or certification in drafting, engineering technology, or a related field.
• 1+ years' experience as a CAD technician, preferably in a customer-faced role.
• Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar) is required.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in design work.
• Ability to interpret and create technical drawings and specifications.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of relevant industry standards is a plus.
