About the position

Tiger Contracting, LLC is seeking a highly motivated draftsman to join their survey department. This full-time position involves creating digital and paper drawings, schematics, and blueprints for construction projects. The draftsman will work closely with field survey crews and project managers to ensure accurate and compliant technical drawings, while utilizing CAD software and collaborating effectively with team members.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate with field survey crews and project managers to obtain necessary field measurements for As-built drawings.
  • Ensure compliance with individual regulating agencies and minimum technical standards for surveying as required by Florida law.
  • Perform a variety of drafting and design assignments using manual and computerized methods.
  • Prepare, revise, and update detailed drawings for projects in various stages of design.
  • Ensure technical drawings are accurate and meet project specifications.
  • Collect construction site reports, analyze building codes, and perform calculations for materials used.
  • Maintain records of drawings and updates, including design changes or modifications.

Requirements

  • 2 years of experience in drafting or technical drawing.
  • Associate degree in drafting, engineering technology, or a related field is a plus.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD/Civil 3D, TBC - Trimble Business Center).
  • Understanding of construction methods, material properties, and basic engineering principles.
  • Knowledge of civil engineering plans for streets, sanitary sewers, water lines, and storm sewers.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft programs, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to perform skilled civil drafting, surveying, and related computations.
  • Ability to download and upload electronic files and photos.
  • Knowledge of legal requirements, codes, and compliance issues related to designated work.
  • Good organizational, relational, verbal, and oral communication skills.
  • Physical ability to occasionally lift, carry, or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Effective time management and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
