About the position

DreamWorks Animation is seeking a mid-level hands-on Java Services Engineer to join the Core Production Services (CorPS) team. This role involves developing and supporting a microservices-based platform that is essential for asset management across the animation production pipeline. The engineer will work closely with development teams and operational staff to create, deploy, and maintain services that integrate with various tools and applications, ensuring efficient data handling within the studio's production systems.

Responsibilities

• Creating and supporting microservices and libraries for asset file management.
• Collaborating with development teams on API service design and documentation.
• Coordinating deployments and managing server configurations with operational staff.
• Assisting clients with migration plans to adopt new services and tools.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical work experience.
• 2+ years of Java development experience using Java 8 or 2 years of Production Pipeline development experience.
• Thorough understanding of microservice-based technologies (REST, JSON).
• Familiarity with service-oriented architecture concepts.
• Experience with scalable and redundant service architectures.
• Ability to quickly research and adapt to new technologies.

Nice-to-haves

• Proficient with Java technologies (Maven, Eclipse/IntelliJ, Spring, Spring Boot, JPA/Hibernate).
• Experience with relational databases (Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
• Familiarity with graph databases (Neo4J, DSE Graph).
• Knowledge of NoSQL technologies (MongoDB, Cassandra, Couchbase, Redis).
• Experience with microservice container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with messaging technologies (ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ, Kafka).
• Experience with testing frameworks (JUnit, TestNG, JMeter).
• Experience with Python, JavaScript, and Node.js.
