About the position

The Dredge Operator 3 position within the Division of Parks & Watercraft at the Ohio Department of Natural Resources involves operating heavy equipment for maintaining dredge material relocation areas and improving lake conditions. The role requires the removal of sediment and aquatic vegetation from waterways and the operation of various dredge-related equipment. This full-time position offers a starting pay of $21.63 per hour with potential increases over the first four years of service.

Responsibilities

  • Operates heavy equipment to maintain dredge material relocation areas (DMRA's) and lake improvement projects.
  • Removes sediment and aquatic vegetation from waterways.
  • Operates dredge-related equipment such as tandem dump truck, pickup truck, semi-tractor, and trailer to haul stone and protect shoreline and dikes.

Requirements

  • 18 months of training or 18 months of experience in heavy equipment operation and maintenance.
  • 6 months of training or 6 months of experience in dredging and related safety practices and operation of dredge and related equipment.
  • Valid commercial driver's license.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience as Dredge Operator 2 for 6 months.
