About the position

The Drinking Water Process Engineer will function as a technical specialist or lead process engineer focusing on conventional and advanced water treatment processes. This role involves applying engineering techniques to solve complex water quality challenges, developing technical evaluations, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. The engineer will also engage in business development activities and support project execution for a global engineering firm.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare or assist in the development of engineering deliverables, including process/mass balance calculations and design criteria.
  • Support multiple projects simultaneously with complex technical challenges.
  • Develop as a technical specialist, providing guidance on water quality considerations and treatment systems.
  • Design projects of moderately complex scope within assigned practice areas.
  • Perform applied research, including testing to assess treatment processes.
  • Develop recommendations for treatment processes and equipment selection.
  • Oversee data collection and management for process design work.
  • Prepare complex engineering calculations following standard methods.
  • Manage assigned budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
  • Independently apply advanced engineering techniques and methods.
  • Review the work of junior engineers and lead process design of projects.
  • Communicate client interests and develop creative solutions to meet their goals.
  • Assist in business development activities and present at conferences.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program.
  • Minimum of 5 years related work experience in drinking water treatment.
  • Professional engineering license or ability to obtain one within 3 years of employment.
  • 8 years of experience in drinking water treatment preferred, with at least 4 years in water quality and treatment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degree (Master's or Doctoral) in civil, environmental, or chemical engineering.
  • Established leadership skills in consulting and project execution.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
