This role requires a commitment to maintaining a clean and pleasant atmosphere in and around the vehicle, as well as adhering to all safety protocols, including the use of seat belts and safety equipment. Drivers must conduct daily vehicle inspections before and after their routes, ensuring that all maintenance and safety issues are identified and reported promptly. In addition to driving, the Driver II is expected to provide exceptional customer service, acting as a knowledgeable resource for guests regarding the property and surrounding areas. Responsibilities include picking up and dropping off guests at designated locations, assisting with luggage weighing up to 80 lbs, and ensuring that all vehicle logbooks are accurately completed. Drivers may also be required to perform clerical tasks, such as answering phones and working as a dispatcher, as well as maintaining the cleanliness and operational readiness of the vehicle, including fueling and washing. The position may involve additional duties such as selling and dispensing propane, operating a cash register, and understanding the machinery and chemicals used in the role. Drivers are expected to attend scheduled department and safety meetings and contribute innovative ideas to improve operational efficiency. Overall, this role is crucial in representing the company positively and ensuring a high standard of service is maintained throughout the transportation process.

Responsibilities

  • Complete a daily vehicle inspection form prior to driving and after finishing the route.
  • Ensure a pleasant and clean atmosphere is maintained in and out of the vehicle.
  • Apply all safety equipment available and always wear a seat belt when driving.
  • Operate company vehicle weighing under 26,000 lb (GVW) transporting passengers or supplies.
  • Drive defensively, safely, and cautiously in all situations.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to guests.
  • Pick up and drop off guests at designated locations.
  • Act as a concierge resource for guests, providing information about the property and surrounding areas.
  • Lift guest luggage weighing up to 80 lb into the vehicle.
  • Fuel, clean, and inspect the vehicle when required.
  • Identify maintenance and safety issues and report malfunctions immediately.
  • Complete vehicle logbooks properly, including rider-ship information log.
  • Work with Transportation Office dispatcher to fulfill special requests and group requests.
  • Transport equipment to and from the warehouse as a warehouse driver.
  • Perform maintenance and safety inspections on service trucks and other vehicles.
  • Take the vehicle to a car wash when necessary.
  • Assist with clerical work, answering phones, and other office duties as needed.
  • Sell and dispense propane, following federal dispensing laws.
  • Occasionally operate a cash register, handling cash and credit cards safely and accurately.
  • Understand the machinery and chemicals used in the role.
  • Read and use SDS sheets and books when necessary.
  • Attend all scheduled department and safety meetings.
  • Share innovative ideas to improve efficiency and operations.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures regarding safety, security, emergencies, and energy.

Requirements

  • Must be age 21 years or older.
  • 1 year + professional driving experience and vehicle mechanical experience preferred.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in written and spoken English.
  • Must pass a DOT physical examination and obtain a medical card.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol test and participate in the random drug/alcohol testing pool.
  • Must complete and pass Defensive Driving Course prior to driving a company vehicle.
  • Drivers may be required to have a passenger endorsement or airbrake endorsement.
  • Experience driving in all weather conditions including winter weather and tire chain installation.

  • Experience with vehicle maintenance and inspections.
