About the position

The Driver-Class A CDL position at Builders FirstSource involves operating a delivery vehicle or truck-trailer combination to transport materials to various customer sites. The role requires the driver to handle vehicles that weigh 26,000 lbs. or greater GVWR, including those towing trailers that may exceed 10,000 lbs. The driver is responsible for ensuring the safe and accurate unloading of materials, taking necessary precautions to protect both the product and the customer's property. This position also requires the use of a hand-held device, except while driving, to ensure compliance with the Daily Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR) and Hours of Service (HOS) regulations. In addition to driving duties, the driver must verify order details and maintain a log of deliveries, which includes tracking amounts and/or weights, mileage, and delivery locations. It is essential to check items against invoices to ensure order accuracy. The driver acts as a customer service liaison, addressing customer concerns and resolving issues as they arise. Maintaining service logs and adhering to pre/post trip inspection procedures are also critical responsibilities of this role. The work environment is dynamic and may involve exposure to temperature variations, hazardous chemicals, mechanical parts, increased noise levels, and dust. The physical demands of the job include lifting and carrying up to 100 pounds frequently, and occasionally up to 200 pounds with assistance.
