About the position

The Driver/Concierge position at Dover Center for Health & Rehabilitation involves providing essential transportation services for residents, ensuring their safe and timely arrival to medical appointments and outings. This role combines driving responsibilities with concierge and customer service duties, contributing to the overall well-being and satisfaction of the residents. The position is full-time, with a focus on creating meaningful connections with residents and their families while maintaining a supportive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Safely drives residents to medical appointments, outings, and other destinations according to assigned schedule.
  • Adheres to traffic laws, regulations, and facility policies to ensure the safety of passengers and others on the road.
  • Assists residents into and out of the vehicle.
  • Secures passengers' wheelchairs to restraining devices to stabilize wheelchairs while driving.
  • Communicates effectively with residents, families, and staff to coordinate transportation schedules and ensure resident needs are met.
  • Communicates with administrative staff regularly to receive instructions or report delays and disruptions of service.
  • Maintains the cleanliness and safety of the vehicle, performing routine inspections, refueling, and immediately reporting maintenance needs.
  • Keeps records of trips and behavior of passengers.

Requirements

  • Current driver's license and excellent driving record is required.
  • Previous experience in patient transportation or a similar role preferred.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
  • Excellent driving skills and knowledge of traffic laws and safety regulations.
  • Compassion, patience, and empathy in working with seniors.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
