About the position

The OATS Transit Driver position involves providing essential transportation services to seniors, individuals with disabilities, and the rural general public in Missouri. Drivers are responsible for ensuring the safety and comfort of riders while maintaining the cleanliness and operational readiness of their assigned vehicles. This role requires a commitment to excellent customer service and adherence to safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Treat riders with respect, dignity, and courtesy; assist all riders on and off the bus.
  • Safely secure wheelchairs and other mobility devices and follow all applicable procedures.
  • Maintain the excellent condition and cleanliness of an assigned OATS vehicle and equipment.
  • Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections, and report issues for repairs.
  • Utilize in-vehicle tablet to receive trip information, updates, and validate pick-up and drop-off times.
  • Complete required paperwork and submit to the regional office in a timely manner.
  • Attend routine paid training sessions.
  • Comply with federal/state/company rules and regulations.

Requirements

  • Must be a minimum of 23 years of age.
  • Class E or CDL license is required with no more than 4 points assessed.
  • Must be able to pass a U.S. DOT physical and road test.
  • Must take and pass drug screening, and undergo random drug/alcohol testing.
  • Must be bondable.
  • Computer experience is a plus as drivers are required to use a computer tablet in their vehicle.
  • Proactive, helpful, can-do attitude with flexibility to adjust to different schedules and routes.
  • Neat, organized, and able to work independently.
  • Ability to perform physical demands including sitting, walking, bending, reaching, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying packages up to 50 pounds.
