About the position

The Driver Helper position at Golden State Foods involves assisting the driver in daily delivery functions, ensuring safe loading and unloading of products, and maintaining excellent customer service. The role requires physical stamina and the ability to work in various temperature conditions while adhering to safety procedures and company policies.

Responsibilities

• Unload product according to customer specifications and QCD delivery procedures at customer locations
• Develop and establish good relationships with customers by providing excellent, courteous service
• Assist driver by handling, organizing, and securing inbound and outbound product including empty trays, crates, totes, and pallets
• Deliver product orders accurately and consistently
• Read labels and printing on product containers and associated documents
• Count and calculate quantity of product to verify accuracy of shipment
• Assist in all aspects of route paperwork
• Maneuver truck safely by 'spotting' and guiding the driver as needed
• Operate within safety procedures at all times
• Maintain a clean work environment at all times
• Maintain excellent attendance
• Complete any other functions that may be assigned

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent is required
• Previous food distribution and frozen food handling preferred
• Ability to understand written and verbal instructions, directions, schedules, policies, and procedures
• Ability to work in ambient temperatures including 3 temperature compartments in trailer and outside temperatures
• Ability to work independently and in cooperation with others
• Ability to maintain professional customer service relationships while reconciling over, short, and damage
