The Driver License Examiner 1 position at the Ohio Department of Public Safety involves conducting examinations for applicants seeking vehicle operator's licenses. The examiner will also handle administrative tasks related to the examination process and maintain the cleanliness of the facility.

Responsibilities

• Conduct examinations of applicants for vehicle operator's licenses during road testing.
• Instruct applicants on maneuvers to be performed during testing.
• Administer driving tests for various license classes including Class D, motorcycle, and moped licenses.
• Evaluate and grade applicants' driving abilities.
• Utilize BMV computer systems to enter applicant information and administer knowledge tests.
• Conduct written and oral tests to assess applicants' knowledge of laws and signs.
• Conduct eye tests to determine visual acuity.
• Respond to inquiries concerning the examination process.
• Make driving test appointments via phone, computer, or in-person.
• Prepare required forms and process applications for licenses.

Requirements

• Formal education in arithmetic including calculating fractions, decimals, and percentages.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.
• One course or three months of experience in human/public relations.
• Valid Ohio Class 'D' Driver License.
• Must be 21 years of age.
