About the position
The position involves loading, unloading, and delivering products to customer sites within designated time frames while ensuring safety and efficiency. The role requires maintaining logs and reports necessary for compliance with DOT and company policies related to safety standards and the operation of delivery vehicles and forklifts. The candidate will be responsible for safely loading and securing cargo, operating forklifts, and performing pre-check and post-check operations on company vehicles. Additionally, the role includes performing warehouse duties and ensuring accurate product loading and transfer for customers, while adhering to good housekeeping and safety practices. Heavy lifting is required, and the candidate may act as backup for warehouse and front counter operations as needed.
Responsibilities
- Load, unload and deliver product to customer sites within designated time frames safely using the most efficient routes possible.
- Maintain required logs and reports necessary to maintain compliance with DOT and Company policies relating to safety standards and operation of delivery vehicles, forklifts, etc.
- Safely load and properly block, brace, and secure the cargo.
- Strong knowledge of driving/traffic and transportation laws, regulations and ensure continuous compliance while operating the truck(s).
- Operate forklift safely and efficiently to transfer, load, unload product - ensure accurate product and quantity of product is being loaded into customer.
- Perform pre-check and post-check operations of Company vehicles and forklifts per required procedures.
- Perform warehouse duties and ensure accurate product and quantity of product is being loaded/transferred for customers.
- Follow good housekeeping and safety practices.
- Heavy lifting required.
- Act as the warehouse and/or front counter backup as needed.
- Perform additional duties as needed.
Requirements
- Minimum 21 years old.
- Possesses a valid driver's license in the state of employment.
- Has a working knowledge of commercial truck mechanics.
- Has a working knowledge of current Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
- Has a minimum of 1 year of verifiable commercial driving experience within the past 3 years.
