This job will consist of local deliveries. Drivers must be comfortable with city driving. Drivers are home daily, and qualifying drivers can receive Safety Bonuses. Freight is a combination of pallet deliveries with some drop and hook. There loads are live and handled by the customer. Drivers will be hauling a dedicated account that will keep them busy year-round in North Carolina!
Responsibilities
- On time delivery to dedicated accounts.
- Pre-trip/Post-trip inspection (before/ after each load).
- Maintaining daily E-Log.
- Operate Company owned tractor-trailer trucks to facilitate transportation of freight.
- Perform required before-, during-, and after-operation 'user maintenance' and provide required reports.
- Provide outstanding customer service during delivery and pickup operations.
- Maintain all required certifications required by DOT, OSHA and company safety programs.
- Maintain all property entrusted to the driver in excellent condition and protect it.
- Report all accidents immediately.
- Promptly report any delays to respective Dispatcher or Manager.
- Perform any other tasks assigned to support and improve the overall team operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Class A CDL.
- Safe driving record (MVR, CSA, and previous employment).
- Ability to pass DOT pre-employment drug screening and meet DOT medical requirements.
- Good stable work record.
- Current DOT physical.
- 1 year of Class-A driving experience or equivalent military experience.
- Be at least 23 years of age.
- Thorough knowledge of traffic laws and defensive driving.
- Ability to safely drive various vehicles.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, supervisors, and the general public.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to operate and maintain equipment in a safe manner at all times.
- Ability to occasionally perform heavy manual tasks under varying weather conditions.
- Ability to make independent judgments, which have moderate impacts on the organization.
