About the position

The Local Truck Driver position at DSV is responsible for operating tractor/semi-trailers for intra and inter-state transportation between company and customer facilities. The role primarily involves driving van trailers, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and maintaining effective communication with customers and dispatchers.

Responsibilities

• Drives semi-tractor/trailers for up to 11 hours after 10 hours off-duty on runs of up to one week or more.
• P&D locally.
• Backs trailers to customer dock.
• Maintains compliance with Federal and State safety regulations and safe and professional driving behavior.
• Communicates with customer representatives in a pleasant, respectful, and efficient manner.
• Communicates and coordinates with dispatchers.
• Complies with all DOT requirements including drug and alcohol testing.
• Secures cargo and properly arranges and balances it within the vehicle.
• Ensures any mechanical issues with the vehicle are corrected before driving.
• Applies tire chains in inclement weather when required.
• Swings and secures trailer doors.
• Performs other duties as required.

Requirements

• Meet D.O.T. qualification requirements, FMCSR 391.41.
• Must have a TWIC or be eligible to obtain a TWIC card within 90 days.
• Basic computer skills.
• English (reading, writing, verbal) proficiency.
• Intermediate mathematical skills.

Nice-to-haves

• 3 years of driving experience.
