About The Position

The Driver Manager at Melton Truck Lines is responsible for overseeing a group of approximately 50 drivers, focusing on ensuring timely deliveries and high service levels while addressing driver needs. This role requires strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, with a commitment to driver retention and satisfaction.

Requirements

• High school diploma and a minimum of 2 years of dispatch or driver relation experience.
• Familiarity with computer programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel, and Innovative AS400 System.
• Ability to type a minimum of 45 words per minute, communicate clearly, and handle stressful situations.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work as a team player.
• Capability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Manage drivers via telephone and Qualcomm regarding on-time delivery, safety issues, productivity, and driver satisfaction.
• Dispatch load assignments verbally and handle home time and pay issues including driver advances.
• Utilize Innovative System and Fleet Commander to monitor fleet activity for on-time service.
• Coordinate pre-calls and directions for drivers.
• Manage drivers' time in service and time off to maximize productivity.
• Identify, investigate, and document all service alerts.
• Evaluate driver performance and recommend disciplinary actions as necessary.
• Coordinate and resolve driver issues with other departments.
• Investigate and recommend actions on additional pay issues.
