About the position
The Driver/Packaging Specialist role is a dual responsibility position focused on safely transporting goods and materials while also preparing and packaging finished products for shipping. The Driver is responsible for loading and unloading cargo, developing efficient routes, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. The Packaging Specialist prepares products for shipment, conducts visual inspections, and maintains packaging supplies, all while ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Communicate effectively with the Production Manager to coordinate delivery/retrieval schedules and address any issues that arise.
- Safely operate company vehicles to transport materials and products to designated locations.
- Load and unload products as required, ensuring proper handling and securement of items.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, reporting any maintenance issues to the Production Manager.
- Prepare and package machined components and finished products according to packaging procedures.
- Visually inspect products for defects and ensure they meet quality standards before packaging.
- Maintain inventory of packaging materials and request supplies as needed.
- Track and record packaging data, including quantities, materials used, and packaging specifications.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Driver or similar position within the manufacturing industry, preferably in machined products or related sectors.
- Strong self-starter with great organizational skills to self-manage their day.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- In-depth knowledge of driving regulations, industry materials/products, and safety protocols for transporting.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations where limited standardization exists.
- Basic math and measurement skills.
- Good physical stamina, with the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
Nice-to-haves
- Bi-lingual in English and Spanish preferred.
- Proven experience in packaging, manufacturing, or related fields is preferred.
